It’s the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope! In 1980, Terry set out to run across Canada to fundraise for cancer research. Now, 45 years later, we’re calling on every school and every student in Canada to FUNDRAISE and help finish what he started.

We will be holding our Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 12th.
Like all other elementary schools in Burnaby, Ecole Cascade Heights has the “safe arrival program”. This means that if a child is marked absent, but the office has not received a telephone call or an email from the caregivers advising of the absence/tardiness, a phone call home or email will be made to ensure the child is safe.
Attendance emails can be sent to: CascadeHeights.Info@burnabyschools.ca You will receive an auto-reply when you email in your student’s absence. If you do not receive this, your email did not go through.
Please include the following details:
– Child(ren)’s Name(s)
– Teacher/Division
– Dates of the absence and/or the expected time of late arrival
– Reason for Absence
It is important to report your student’s absence to the office, either through email or on the phone at 604-296-9007 ext 2.
Please call or email the office and leave a message on the absence line, even if you have already advised the teacher, so that we do not bother you at home/work.
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2025/2026 school year. The staff and I are excited to begin the new school year together.
School starts on Tuesday September 2nd, 2025. Students will attend school from 8:56–10:00am on this day. All returning students from grades 1-7 please report to last year’s classrooms. All new English students in grades 1-7 please report to the gym. Grade 4 French Immersion students will report to the Music Room (signage will be directing students). New students (English) to Cascade Elementary please enter the main doors and meet in the school gym.
The PAC will be hosting a meet and great for family members outside the main entrance please stop and say hi!
Wednesday September 3rd to Friday September 5th students from grades 1-7 will be in session all day from 8:56am until 3:03pm. On these days, our grade 1 students will be in the following locations Ms. Minhas’ grade 1s in the Library and Ms. Ezra’s grade 1s in Rm #16. If all goes well French Immersion students will begin their new classes on Wednesday.
All grade 1-7 students will take part in a rotation of classroom and school wide activities from Wednesday to Friday. The school theme for the first week is “I am unique and I can work with others in a group”.
Once we have district approval, we will be moving all students into their new classrooms. Hopefully by Monday September 8th.
A big welcome to our new Kindergarten students and families! Kindergarten students will attend school on a gradual entry schedule. Please visit the calendar on our school website for times if you are unsure. Kindergarten families will come on September 2nd to sign up for an intake interview with our Kindergarten teachers. Lists will be posted on the outside of the Kindergarten classrooms (they are Smith Avenue facing classrooms).

Learning Updates (report cards) are now available for viewing, downloading, and/or printing on the Family Portal. There have been reports of technical issues when viewing Learning Updates on mobile devices, we encourage families to view and download their student’s reports on computers.
Term 3 Learning Updates will be available until September 30, 2025.
